I typically don’t do any Utility work. We work mostly on the customer end. We do however interface with the Utility company, but it is mainly because the Utility provides protection settings for the Main breakers on their 15kV system. So they witness us test the relays to meet their specifications.
So as far as needing to GPS a meter, it sounds like a good idea. I can’t speak for how useful it is to the Utility companies. Someone from the Utility would have to follow up and speak on what they would like to see.
