Acceptance Testing (ANSI/NETA ATS)
Before new switchgear, transformers or breakers are energized, we verify nothing was damaged in shipping or installation and that everything matches the design drawings. Have protective relays? We’ll set and test them to your engineer’s coordination study.
Request a QuoteMaintenance Testing (ANSI/NETA MTS)
We test and service your equipment to the NETA MTS standard and NFPA 70B, document the results, and flag anything that needs attention. Not ready for a shutdown yet? An infrared scan is a great first step.

Breaker tripping, equipment overheating, lights flickering or a relay that won’t reset? Our technicians track down the cause, even without drawings, and help you get back online safely.

Our qualified technicians open, isolate and restore medium voltage breakers, disconnects and low voltage switches so the utility or other contractors can work safely. While your equipment is de-energized, it’s also the perfect time for maintenance testing.
Plan Your Outage With UsInfrared, Ultrasonic & Power Quality
Find hot spots, arcing and power problems while everything keeps running. These inspections show you exactly where to focus before something fails.
Request a QuoteAcceptance vs. Maintenance Testing
Two NETA standards for two stages of your equipment’s life. We handle both.
Acceptance Testing
For new or newly installed equipment. Between the factory floor and your electrical room, equipment is trucked, rigged and handled many times. Acceptance testing confirms nothing was damaged along the way and that everything matches the design drawings, before you energize it and apply critical loads.
- Catches shipping and installation damage
- Verifies settings and wiring against the design
- Gives you a baseline for future maintenance
Maintenance Testing
For equipment already in service. Over time, grease hardens, connections loosen and insulation breaks down. Regular maintenance testing finds these problems early, extends the life of your equipment and helps you avoid unplanned outages and costly replacements.
- Finds wear and failing insulation early
- Supports your NFPA 70B maintenance program
- Reduces unplanned downtime
Equipment We Test
From a single panelboard to an entire medium voltage distribution system.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is NETA testing?
NETA testing is electrical testing performed to the standards of the InterNational Electrical Testing Association. NETA publishes the ANSI/NETA ATS standard for acceptance testing of new equipment and the ANSI/NETA MTS standard for maintenance testing of equipment already in service. A NETA Accredited Company like ETT is independent, and its technicians hold NETA certification.
What is the difference between acceptance testing and maintenance testing?
Acceptance testing is done on new or newly installed equipment before it is energized. It confirms nothing was damaged in shipping or installation and that the equipment matches the design. Maintenance testing is done on equipment already in service. It finds wear, loose connections, insulation breakdown and other problems before they cause an outage.
How often should electrical equipment be tested?
It depends on the equipment, its condition and how critical it is to your operation. The NETA MTS standard and NFPA 70B give recommended intervals, often every one to three years for key distribution equipment. ETT can help you set up a maintenance program that fits your facility.
Do you work on government projects?
Yes. ETT works with federal and commercial facilities. We are a Maryland certified small business. Our DUNS is 117386906, our CAGE code is 8GVF9, and our NAICS code is 238210.
